Stray cats unwelcome in my yard
In her May 14 letter, Debbie DeHaven claims that the May 4 editorial
of this paper was "unintelligent." DeHaven claims that there is no proof that the stray cats the residents are complaining
about are from her colony. Does she have proof that the stray cats are not from her colony?
DeHaven said she is puzzled that no one complained when there were 200 cats. I don't know where she gets her information
from, because my husband trapped five or six cats in my front yard in the past two years. Since the township pays a fee when
they pick up the stray cats, there is a record of that, and that is a fact.
Debbie DeHaven claims that her cats are well fed and not interested in birds for food. I guess when a stray cat was in
a tree on my lawn clawing at my birdhouse the cat was only playing. Another "fact" is that I have a well-fed, gentle, friendly
dog; but one day last year when I let her out in my back yard, she ran to the back of the yard where three stray kittens wandered
in and picked one up and tossed it in the air as she would one of her toys. Needless to say, that poor cat did not run from
my yard as the other two kittens did.
One stray cat on my property is one too many. The stench from a cat's urine is not only nauseating, it is also unhealthy.
